This fireplace was crying out for an update. A mauve colored tile surround did not create the focal point the room needed. Working with the new homeowner, I designed a unique 3 piece surround that took advantage of the niche to the left of the fireplace. Incorporated into the hearth and mantle, the niche will serve as useful wood storage below and a display area above. The sleek, modern ‘dark chocolate’ stained concrete contrasts beautifully with the natural gray vertical element. No more bad 1980’s tile job here!
