After we fabricated a concrete, steel, and ash dining table we were left with a 3 foot ash offcut.   The client waned to use it, but was concerned about the small check, or crack, in one end.   We inlaid a hand-cut ebony ‘butterfly’ joint to stabilize the check and created a great little end table using the same three materials to complement their dining table.
